Welcome to the High Five Health Promotion physiotherapy website

At High Five we believe that a healthy mind and body are essential to living with vitality and being the best version of yourself: strong, resilient, well balanced and happy.

To help you increase your vitality, High Five offers a wide range of services that focus primarily on exercise, relaxation and nutrition. Physiotherapy is a form of therapeutic exercise that helps improve movement.

The ability to move freely cannot always be taken for granted. Some movements may cause pain or your body may not move as easily as it used to. But physiotherapy can often help. Physiotherapy prevents, treats and relieves physical pain, improves your range of movement and helps you maintain it.

Physiotherapists are experts in posture and movement.

What a physiotherapist does

The first session

In the first session, your physiotherapist will examine you to establish where you feel pain and what movements you find difficult. They may also take some measurements. The physiotherapist will also go through a questionnaire with you and ask you about your goals. This will enable them to determine if physiotherapy can help solve your problem, or if it would be better to see your doctor first. Even if you are referred for treatment after being examined by your doctor or a specialist, the physiotherapist will still go through the same assessment procedure to gain a clear understanding of the problem. Once the physiotherapist has identified the problem, if they feel physiotherapy can help, you can agree a treatment plan.

Treatment

Treatment is guided by a treatment plan. First, your physiotherapist will discuss your injury or pain with you. They will explain what is causing the problem, what this means and what can be done about it. The physiotherapist will help you understand your treatment options, how treatment will affect your symptoms, how much you can expect to improve, how long the treatment will take or how many sessions you will need. Once the treatment plan has been agreed, you can start treatment. Treatment may take several forms. The different treatment methods are described in the ‘Treatment methods’ section below. The physiotherapist will also advise you on things you can do to help ease your symptoms. Physiotherapy treatment is tailored to your personal needs and goals.

High Five physiotherapists are registered under the Dutch Individual Healthcare Professions Act (BIG Act) and accredited by the Dutch Physiotherapy Accreditation Foundation (Stichting Keurmerk Fysiotherapie (SKF)).

High Five offers a range of physiotherapy treatment methods. Some of these methods, such as dry needling for example, require specialist training and are only offered by physiotherapists who have completed additional training. Your physiotherapist will explain the options available to you.

Our physiotherapists do not just treat work-related pain and injuries. They can help you with anything that can be improved with physiotherapy. Having spent so many years in corporate environments, we also specialise in setting up workstations and conducting workstation assessments.
